Upbit to List CARDS Trading Pairs in KRW, BTC and USDT
Upbit plans to introduce trading for CARDS against the South Korean won (KRW), Bitcoin (BTC) and Tether (USDT), according to a November 5 listing announcement. The three markets would give users different ways to price and exchange the token, though each pair may develop its own trading conditions.
The announcement does not specify the year, trading start time or supported deposit network in the information available here. Before placing an order or transferring tokens, users should check the relevant notice on Upbit’s official announcement page.
What the Three Trading Pairs Mean
Each market quotes CARDS in a different currency or crypto asset:
- CARDS/KRW expresses the token’s price in South Korean won.
- CARDS/BTC prices the token in Bitcoin, so its quoted value can change as either asset moves.
- CARDS/USDT uses Tether, a stablecoin intended to track the value of the U.S. dollar. Its market price can nevertheless differ from its intended peg.
Prices across these markets may not move in perfect lockstep. Differences in order-book depth, trading activity and transaction costs can create gaps, particularly when a market has just opened.
A listing can make an asset accessible to more traders, but it does not guarantee strong liquidity or indicate how its price will perform.
What to Check Before Trading or Depositing
Newly listed crypto assets can experience sharp price swings. Before trading CARDS on Upbit, consider reviewing:
- The exact asset identity. Token tickers are not necessarily unique. Verify the project name and contract address in Upbit’s listing details rather than relying on the symbol alone.
- Trading availability. Check the announced opening time and any initial restrictions on order types or prices.
- Liquidity and spreads. A wide gap between buy and sell orders can make a trade more expensive than expected, especially for larger orders.
- Deposit and withdrawal support. Confirm which network Upbit accepts and whether deposits or withdrawals are open. Sending a token over an unsupported network can result in a loss of funds.
- Regional eligibility. Available services and trading pairs may depend on a user’s location and account status.
Market orders deserve particular care in thin markets: they prioritize execution, not a specific price. A limit order lets a trader set a price threshold, although it may not be filled.
Managing CARDS After a Purchase
Users considering self-custody should first confirm that their chosen wallet supports the specific CARDS token and the network used for withdrawal. Matching ticker symbols alone are not enough to establish compatibility.
A hardware wallet such as OneKey can help protect private keys when used with a supported asset and network. Before making a full transfer, verify the destination address, check withdrawal details and consider sending a small test transaction. As with any crypto asset, self-custody also means taking responsibility for securing the recovery phrase and keeping it offline.
