What is Cetus?

Cetus is a decentralized exchange (DEX) and concentrated liquidity protocol built on the Sui and Aptos blockchains. It functions as a core piece of DeFi infrastructure within these Move-based ecosystems. Unlike a traditional Automated Market Maker (AMM) that distributes liquidity evenly across all price points, Cetus employs a Concentrated Liquidity Market Maker (CLMM) model. This structure enables liquidity providers (LPs) to concentrate their supplied assets within specific price ranges. By doing so, the protocol aims to enhance capital efficiency, as liquidity is focused where most trading activity is expected to occur. For traders, this concentration of liquidity can result in lower price slippage during token swaps. For liquidity providers, the CLMM mechanism offers the potential to earn higher trading fees from the same amount of capital compared to standard AMM pools, provided the token price stays within their selected range. Users can interact with Cetus to perform swaps between a variety of digital assets on the Sui and Aptos networks or to become LPs and earn a share of the platform's trading fees. The protocol also features a native token, CETUS, which is involved in governance and liquidity incentive programs. As a key liquidity layer, Cetus provides a foundational service for users and other dapps seeking efficient on-chain trading and yield generation opportunities.
