What is Hubble Protocol?

Hubble is a decentralized finance (DeFi) protocol built on the Solana blockchain. Its core function is to facilitate the minting of USDH, a decentralized, crypto-backed stablecoin pegged to the US dollar. The protocol allows users to deposit a wide range of crypto assets as collateral to generate liquidity in the form of USDH. Supported collateral types include SOL, mSOL, ETH, and BTC, among others, providing users with a way to unlock the value of their holdings without needing to sell them. The mechanism for minting USDH is based on a Collateralized Debt Position (CDP) model. Users lock their assets in a smart contract-managed vault and can then borrow or mint USDH against that collateral. The system requires over-collateralization, meaning the value of the deposited assets must be significantly higher than the value of the minted USDH. This design aims to ensure the stability of the USDH peg and the overall solvency of the protocol, even during periods of market volatility. The Hubble Protocol is governed by holders of its native token, HBB. The HBB token serves dual purposes as both a governance and a utility token. Holders can stake HBB to participate in key decisions regarding the protocol's parameters and future development. In addition, staking HBB allows users to earn a share of the fees generated by the platform from minting and redemption activities, creating a potential yield-bearing opportunity. As a foundational element in the Solana DeFi ecosystem, USDH functions as a capital-efficient and censorship-resistant form of stable currency for trading, liquidity provision, and other decentralized applications.
