What is Mayan?

Mayan Swap is a cross-chain swap protocol designed to facilitate asset transfers between different blockchain networks. It addresses the challenge of fragmented liquidity in the decentralized finance (DeFi) ecosystem by enabling users to swap tokens from one chain to another within a single transaction. This enhances capital efficiency and simplifies the user experience for individuals operating in a multi-chain environment. The protocol supports a variety of major blockchains, including Ethereum, Solana, BNB Chain, Polygon, and Avalanche, allowing for seamless interoperability between these distinct ecosystems. The core architecture of Mayan Swap utilizes the Wormhole messaging protocol for secure cross-chain communication. When a user initiates a swap, an auction is created. Relayers then compete to fill this swap order using liquidity primarily sourced from the Solana blockchain. This auction-based model is designed to find a competitive execution price for the user while also providing a degree of protection against Maximal Extractable Value (MEV) and high price slippage. For the end-user, the process is streamlined. A user can initiate a transaction from their wallet on a source chain, such as swapping USDC on Ethereum for SOL on Solana, and the protocol handles the underlying bridging and swapping operations. The final assets are then delivered directly to their wallet on the destination chain. By abstracting the technical complexities of manual bridging and using different decentralized exchanges (DEXs), Mayan Swap functions as an important piece of infrastructure for building a more connected and accessible Web3.
